DAY 1 Bucharest


Arrival at Otopeni airport and transfer at the hotel in Bucharest. Meet your English speaking guide in the airport and on the way to the hotel he will present you the tour and he will give all the practical information about exchange rates, Romanian food and restaurants. Depending on the arrival time, have a short sightseeing tour of Bucharest, with the visit of the Parliament Palace. If it’s not doable the first day, the sightseeing tour will be done the in last day of the trip, before the transfer. Overnight in a centrally located hotel.


DAY 2 Bucharest – Urlati Vineyard – Sinaia – Brasov


In the morning, departure from Bucharest to Ploiesti, one of the oldest wine regions in Romania. Urlati vineyard has 85 hectares of land and another 12 hectares for Sauvignon Blanc and Feteasca Nagra, both of them new plantations. Positioned in a soft valley, Urlati vineyard has the advantage of being exposed towards the south, witch means that the grapes are under the sun during the whole period of vegetation. The cellar itself is very picturesque, a XIXth century big house located at the top of a hill. In this place they bottle 2500 bottles an hour and around 1.000.000 bottles a year. Visit the cellar, make a wine tasting, followed by a traditional lunch. After lunch, departure for Sinaia for visiting of the former summer residence of the first king of Romania, Carol I. Peles Castle, built in the Bavarian style during the second half of the XIXth century, was the most modern castle in Europe at that time, and today it stands as one of the most beautiful castles of Europe. After the visit, drive to Brasov, where we spend the second night. Accommodation in a hotel in the old town.
DAY 3 Brasov – Panciu Vineyard – Bacau
After breakfast, short walking tour in the old town of Brasov followed by the visit of the largest gothic cathedral in the south – east of Europe, the Black Church. Departure for Panciu vineyard, located close to the Carpathian Mountains, on an acreage of 10.000 hectares. It’s one of the largest Romanian vineyards and the grapes and the wine made here are representative for the variety, quality and quantity. The white and the red wines made here, cover a large variety: Feteasca Alba, Feteasca Regala, Tamaioasa Romaneasca, Babeasca Neagra, Aligote, Traminer, Italian Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Ottonel, Pinot Gris, Merlot, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir. Also here, they make an unique wine, a sparkling wine made after the classic procedure Champenoise. Visit the vineyard, wine tasting and traditional lunch, then departure for Bacau, one of the biggest towns of Moldova, where we spend our third night. Accommodation in a centrally located hotel.
DAY 4 Bacau – Cotnari Vineyard – Piatra Neamt
Leave Bacau in the morning and drive to Cotnari vineyard, part of the viticulture region of the Moldavian Plateau, situated mostly on the Harlau and Cotnari side, an important segment of the Great Moldavian Side. This region is unique due to the vine’s personality and to the sunny slopes, to the refinement of the white wines obtained here and most of all, thanks to the people’s traditional love and caring for wine culture. The Cotnari wine it is not for drinking but for tasting, it is the divine promise. But when it joins a long feast, drank in moderation it develops noble and surprizing reactions. Manifesting a sign of distinctive appreciation, the consumer tastes it in transparent glasses enjoying the goldness of the colour also. With a rich history, this goldish liquid  carries in it besides sunlight, all Earth’s exquisiteness and a piece of the craftman’s soul. During time, valuable wine collecting was a real passion for a lot of people that appreciate wine to its true value. Visit of the wine cellar, wine tasting and traditional lunch. In the afternoon, departure for Piatra Neamt. On the way, stop for the visit of the largest convent in Romania, Agapia, where more than 300 nuns live together. The church of the convent was painted by the greatest Romanian painter, Nicolae Grigorescu and the museum of the convent lodges some of the best paintings of the artist. In the evening, arrival in Piatra Neamt, where we spend the night in a centrally located hotel.
DAY 5 Piatra Neamt – Bicaz – Sighisoara
After breakfast we leave the town and we come back to Transylvania, crossing the spectacular Bicaz Gorges. After the Red Lake there is a region inhabited by a large Hungarian community, that’s why the names of the towns are written in two languages. In the afternoon we arrive in Sighisoara, the best preserved medieval town of Romania. During the walking tour, we visit the Church on the Hill, the Clock Tower and Vlad Dracul’s House, the place where in 1431, the famous prince Vlad the Impaler (Dracula) was born. Accommodation in Sighisoara.
DAY 6 Sighisoara – Jidvei – Sibiu
Leave Sighisoara in the morning and we drive to Jidvei, the forth vineyard that we visit during this trip. Jidvei wines are nurtured in the Tarnave Vineyard, laid along the two Tarnave rivers, on the Tarnava Mica, from Zagar to Craciunelul de Jos, and on the Tarnava Mare, from Sighisoara to Craciunelul de Jos. Some Miles away from Alba Iulia, the home of the Great Union in 1918, and 100 Miles away from the ancient Dacian fortress Sarmisegetuza, the cradle of the old Dacian civilization, the Tarnave Vineyard represents the heart of a place filled with history and histories, some true, others imaginary, which bring Transylvania a touch of charm. Spread now on a surface of more than 2000 hectares, the vineyard is situated at an altitude between 600- 1500 feet, most of the vineyards being set on slopes with southern exposure, which makes the sun rays and atmospheric circulation to favor vine cultures. The land benefits of a continental plateau type climate with an average temperature of +9C, and the moderate temperatures of the grapes' maturing period determine slow oxidation reactions, fact which helps to a continual accumulation of sugars, aromas, to a not so accentuated reduction of acidity. But the most precious gift that natures makes to the vine growers is The Autumn. The autumn on the valley of Tarnave river, with it's mild temperatures, alternating fogy days with sunny ones, gathering the aromas into the grapes and in the meantime keeping the level of acidity into the boundaries of an harmonious balance. Visit of the vineyard and of the castle, wine tasting and traditional lunch. In the afternoon departure for Sibiu, the European Capital of the Culture in 2007. Overnight in Sibiu.
DAY 7 Sibiu – Bucharest
In the morning we visit the medieval side of Sibiu, including the Big Square and the Small Square, the Liars’ Bridge and the Lutheran Cathedral. We leave Sibiu after lunch and on the way to Bucharest we will visit also Cozia Monastery, built at the end of XIVth century by the Prince Mircea, and Curtea de Arges Monastery, one of the most beautiful in Romania, the place where the kings of Romania are buried. We arrive in Bucharest in the evening and we stay over the night in the same hotel as the first night.
DAY 8 Bucharest – transfer to the airport / end of our services
