DAY 1 – Arrival in Bucharest / transfer
Arrival at Otopeni airport and transfer to the hotel in Bucharest. Meet your English speaking guide in the airport and on the way to the hotel he will present you the tour and he will give you all the practical information about exchange rates, Romanian food and restaurants. Brief orientational tour of the city. Overnight in a centrally located hotel.
DAY 2 Communism vs Little Paris (Bucharest / transfer to Sinaia)
In in the morning, after breakfast, leave the hotel for a sightseeing tour and the visit of one of the most impressive building in the world, The Parliament’s Palace, also known as The People’s House, the second largest administrative building in the world. It is the most impressive communist style building in the world, but the whole area, around the Parliament Palace, represents the essence of the Romanian communist architecture: Unirea Avenue, the Radio’s House, the National Library. During the tour you will see also The Revolution Square, The Opera Square, Victoria Ave and the Triumphal Arch. This is the older side of Bucharest, known once  as the Little Paris, full of beautiful buildings from the end of XIXth, beginning of the XXth century, lots of them designed by French architects: the Romanian Atheneum, the Savings Bank Palace, Cantacuzino Palace etc. Leave Bucharest in the afternoon and drive to Sinaia, one of the most beautiful ski resorts of Romania. Overnight in Sinaia.
DAY 3 The Bavarian Architecture (Peles and Pelisor Castles, Bran Castle / transfer to Brasov)
Attention! On Monday and also Tuesday (winter season) Peles Castle and Pelisor Castle are closed! Also in October Pelisor Castle is closed for cleaning and Peles Castle in November! We recommend you to avoid booking this tour during these two month!
In the morning start the visit of the two Bavarian Castles, Peles and Pelisor, the summer residences of the Romanian Royal Family. Peles Castle was recently voted by an important tourism magazine between the 5 most beautiful castles in the world. First visit the residence of the king Carol I – Peles Castle, then the residence of the second king, Ferdinand. After the lunch break, drive to Bran Castle, originally a gothic castle from the late XIVth century, and admire all the changes made till now, when we can barely see the marks of the gothic. Arrive at the end of the day in Brasov, accommodation in the old town.
DAY 4 Gothic and Saxon style (Brasov and Sibiu)
Spend the morning in Brasov and admire the beautiful old town, with the walking streets surrounded by beautiful Saxon style houses, the Council’s Square and the largest gothic cathedral in the south east of Europe, the Black Church. Next visit St Nicholas Church, a mixture of Baroque, Byzantine and Gothic, and the museum of the First Romanian School. Lunch and departure for Sibiu, where we visit the medieval side of the town, founded by the Saxon settlers and known also as Hermannstadt. The walking tour will bring you to the Small Square, the Liar’s Bridge, the Big Square and to the Lutheran Cathedral, one of the most beautiful gothic cathedrals of Transylvania. Overnight in Sibiu.
DAY 5 Saxon and Hungarian architecture (Sibiu – Sighisoara – Targu Mures – Bistrita)
Leave Sibiu in the morning and drive to Sighisoara, the best preserved medieval town of Romania. On the way, make a short stop in Biertan and visit the fortified church from the village, the most impressive Saxon fortified church of Transylvania, an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Arrive in Sighisoara and visit the fortress; during the walking tour, visit the Church on the Hill, the Clock Tower and Vlad Dracul’s House, the place where in 1431, the famous prince Vlad the Impaler (Dracula) was born. After lunch, drive to Targu Mures and stop in the city center to admire the beautiful Hungarian Art Nouveau style buildings: the Palace of the Culture and the City Council’s Palace. Arrive in the evening in Bistrita where we spend the night.
DAY 6 Traditional Romanian Architecture / Maramures style (Bistrita – Sighetu Marmatiei)
In the morning, drive to Maramures, where we find the best preserved traditional Romanian villages. Maramures is the land of the wood, where the wood carvers have made incredible wooden gates, awesome wooden churches and exquisite wooden houses. We visit some of the most beautiful villages on Iza Valley, like: Ieud, Rozavlea and Dragomiresti. In the afternoon, drive to Sapanta to visit an unique cemetery, the Merry Cemetery, where the crosses are meant to describe the life and specially the bad qualities of the people buried there. Overnight in Sighetu Marmatiei.
DAY 7 The Byzantine Architecture / painted monasteries (Sighetu Marmatiei – Radauti)
Today we cross Rodna Mountain and we reach Bucovina, the region known for the painted monasteries. These monasteries, from the XVth and XVIth centuries are famous for their beautiful Byzantine architecture and also for the exterior mural paintings. Today we visit Moldovita and Sucevita monasteries and we arrive in the evening in Radauti where we spend the night.
DAY 8 The Painted Monasteries (Radauti – Bucharest)
In the morning leave Radauti and drive to Gura Humorului, where we visit two more painted monasteries: Humor and Voronet, the second one considered to be the most beautiful one, called also the Sisteen Chapel of the East. After a lunch break, we drive south and in the evening we arrive in Bucharest, where you spend the last night of your trip to Romania.
Day 9 Bucharest – transfer to the airport / end of our services
