DAY 1 Transfer to Bucharest
Arrival at Otopeni airport and transfer to the hotel in Bucharest. Meet your English speaking guide in the airport and on the way to the hotel he will present you the tour and he will give all the practical information about exchange rates, Romanian food and restaurants. Overnight in a 4**** star hotel centrally located.
DAY 2 Bucharest – Targoviste - Curtea de Arges
In the morning, after breakfast, leave the hotel for a sightseeing tour. Discover the old town of the Romanian Capital, where, 550 years ago, Vlad the Impaler had built a castle that became later on the residence of the Walachian Princess. Today the ruins of this medieval castle are kept as a museum. Nearby, is St Anthony church, the place where the Princesses of Walachia have been crowned. Sightseeing tour, including the most interesting sites in Bucharest, like The Parliament’s Palace, also known as The People’s House, the second largest building in the world, The Revolution Square, The Opera Square, Victoria Ave and the Triumphal Arch. Leave Bucharest and drive to Targoviste, the second Capital of Walachia, and we visit the Royal Court and ChindiaTower. This is the place where Vlad the Impaler’s father, Vlad Dracul, was killed by his rivals, together with the Impaler’s oldest brother. Late in the afternoon we arrive in Curtea de Arges, the first Capital of Walachia, where we visit the 16th century church, the place where the Romanian king are buried, followed by the visit of Poienari fortress, built by Vlad at the top of a cliff, the place from where his wife had jumped, committing suicide, after she found out that her husband was killed. There are though 1500 steps to climb to get to the fortress! Return to Curtea de Arges and accommodation in town in a 3*** star hotel.
DAY 3 Curtea de Arges – Sibiu
In the morning, we leave Curtea de Arges and we cross the gorges of the river Olt. Right before the entrance in the gorges, we stop at Cozia, to visit the church built by Vlad’s grandfather, Mircea the Old, on the shore of the river. Arrive at noon in Sibiu and visit the medieval town, founded by the saxon settlers and known also as Hermanstadt. The walking tour will bring you to the Small Square, the Liar’s Bridge, the Big Square and to the Lutheran Cathedral, where Mihnea the Mean, Vlad’s son is buried. Overnight in a 4**** star hotel in the old town.
DAY 4 Sibiu – Hunedoara – Cluj Napoca
After breakfast, departure for Hunedoara, where we visit the only gothic castle from Transylvannia, HuniadyCastle, built durirng the XVth century by two of the greatest Hungarian kings: Ioan Huniady and his son, Matthiew Corvinus. Matthiew had helped the rivals of the Impaler and he had trapped him and put him in jail in Vishegrad Castle. After the visit, we go to Cluj Napoca, the Capital of Transylvania, and after a short walking tour which includes the visit of St Michael’s Cathedral and the house where Matthiew Corvinus was born, we get accommodation in a 3*** star hotel centrally located.
DAY 5 Cluj Napoca – Bistrita – Borgo Pass
In the morning we leave Cluj Napoca and before noon we will arrive in Bistrita, the town where Dracula’s lowyer, Jonathan Harker made a stop at the Golden Crown Inn and he was warned by the locals to stay away from the count vampire. After a walking tour in the old town, we have lunch in the restaurant of Golden Crown Hotel, in Jonathan Harker dinning room. Departure for the BorgoPass, the place where Bram Stoker had located the castle of the count Dracula. Typical Dracula dinner and accommodation on BorgoPass at Hotel Castle Dracula 3***.
DAY 6 Borgo Pass – Targu Mures - Sighisoara
After breakfast we leave count Dracula’s Castle and we go to Sighisoara. On the way, short stop in Targu Mures, the most typical Hungarian town from Transylvania, where you can see beautiful Hungarian Art Nouveau building – like the Palace of the Culture and the City Hall. In the afternoon arrive in Sighisoara, the best preserved medieval town in Romania. During the walking tour, we visit the Church on the Hill, the Clock Tower and Vlad Dracul’s House, the place where, in 1431, Vlad the Impaler (Dracula) was born. Accommodation in a 3*** hotel in the fortress.
DAY 7 Sighisoara – Bran – Brasov
Leave Sighisoara in the morning and drive to Bran, where you visit the medieval castle known worldwide as Dracula’s Castle. Free time for shopping and departure for Brasov, one of the most beautiful cities of Transylvania and known also as Kronstadt (the city of the crown). Visit the old town of Brasov, including the biggest gothic cathedral from the south east of Europe, the BlackChurch and the amazing museum of the FirstRomanianSchool from Schei. In the evening we go to Poiana Brasov, the best ski resort in Romania and we get accommodation in a 4**** hotel designed to look like a medieval castle, called Acasa la Dracula (Dracula’s Home).
Day 8 Brasov – Sinaia – Snagov - Bucharest
In the morning departure for Sinaia, for the visit of the summer residence of the first royal couple, King Carol I and Queen Elisabeth, Peles Castle, one of the most beautiful palaces in Europe. After this, we drive to Snagov, the burial place of the Impaler. There is a monastery on an island and in the church of the monastery there is a tomb where probably was buried the body of the walachian prince. Return to Bucharest for the farewell dinner in Dracula’s restaurant and accommodation in a 4**** star hotel in the city center.
DAY 9 Transfer to the airport / end of our services
